New house getting started!
We are getting ready to start a new home in the next two or so weeks. With it, I will be putting together a photo collection of the entire process as well as creating a video that documents the entire building process from start to finish. Hopefully it will be helpful. Talk again soon!

5 reasons NOT to build your new home now!
2. I'm going to wait for mortgage rates to increase.
3. I will wait for land prices to increase.
4. I like living in my current non-energy efficient home an paying those expensive utility bills.
5. I like throwing rent money away and having nothing to show for it in return.
Not a one makes sense, does it? Time to get your new home started...let's talk!

Make way for Grandpa & Grandma
An intresting statistic....16% of U.S. households are multi-generational. I know what you are thinking "A lot of "boomerang" kids out there today", right? Wrong! Well..........half wrong anyways. Today it is an even split between "boomerang" kids and grandparents living with thier children. According to a recent Pew Research Study, 49 million Americans live in a multi-generational home. Of those, it is split evenly at 47% to 47% between "boomerang" families and "grandparents living with the kids". When I saw this article by Jenny Sullivan in Builder Magazine I thought it was worth spending a few moments contemplating the meaning.
O.K. What does this mean for home design? My gut-reaction is to think about bathroom design. Or, maybe more correctly stated, does the plan have enough bathrooms? Maybe we better think about the laundry room size and layout? Hmmmm...... kitchen design and function better, as always, be at the top of the list, too. I look forward to discussing these unique design ideas with all of you as we work thru the realities of this as time wears on. I was at a seminar about a year back where this topic was broached but I had never dreamed that we are up to 16% of households falling into this category.
I look forward to your feedback and letting me know what other ideas you have on this topic. One final note before I have a "certain" few friends (you know who you are) questioning my math skills, the other 6% of multi-generational households are grandparent-grandchild households...which brings us to 100%. I would not have guessed that category as high as 6% either.
Talk again soon!

Halle partners with Amwood Homes

Remember a few weeks ago when I said I had some exciting news? Here it is...Effective as of the first of the year, we have formed a new partnership with Amwood Homes of Janesville, WI. Most of you are aware that we have been a Wausau Homes builder for over 35 years so this switch may come as a surprise. While Wausau Homes has been in important partner for many years, we have been looking for more in recent years. Today, two-thirds of the homes we build are "Custom" home plans that we design with our home buyers. That said, Amwood Homes is a better fit for us in the Panelized home building business.
Amwood Homes is a company that started in the "custom" home building business more than 30 years ago. With Amwood, we are able to handle all of our customer's needs at a more competitive cost and with the highest level of quality and engineering. I want to invite all of you to check out Amwood Homes' website at http://amwoodhomes.com/. At the bottom of the home page is a short video that explains why Amwood building systems are the best option for building your new home.
In a couple of weeks I will be documenting one of our new homes on this blog, start to finish, to help you understand the process and sequence of building a new home. To many, building a new home is too overwhelming. I will show you how we take the confusion and chaos out of building a new home. Stay tuned for the details that explain how we do this.

Happy Valentines Day!
Hope this is a happy day for all. The coldest of winter is behind us, warmer weather is soon to come, spring break is only a few weeks away, and the golf courses will be opening in early April.....and that's just 45, or so, days away! Spring time activity has been picking up and we are getting the planning started for spring time projects.
We do have one really exciting thing happening.....but I cannot let it out of the bag quite yet. I'll be back in a few days with all of the details!
Oh, one more thing....Congrats to John Weiler's daughter, Katelyn, who just turned 18 years old! Happy Birthday!
Hope you are well and talk again soon.
